The Mustangs women’s rugby team beat Laurier 60-0 on Friday to improve to 4-0, with a 40-0 lead at halftime. Tashlyn Jackson, Kattrina Wright and Kennedy Johnston scored early tries, and Reilly Cattell carried the ball more than half the field in the first half, then scored a try of her own in the second.

Cattell credited her teammates for setting up the gaps she ran through. She said the week’s focus was on keeping aggression up and defence to a high standard, and on treating the game as if it were still 0-0.

Head coach Josh Campbell said he expected Laurier to make Western work for every point. He said the group is built for physical moments. Solene Coutts also scored late in the game.
