Natasha Burke, PhD’12, has received the 2026 Western Science Alumni Award of Achievement for her work in quantitative finance and her efforts to support women in finance leadership. She did her MSc at Memorial University in her home province of Newfoundland, then chose Western for her PhD in applied mathematics because of the people.

She is Vice President, Counterparty Risk Analytics at TD, where she has worked for more than 10 years and moved through increasingly senior roles. Her work focuses on understanding risk and setting controls, governance and boundaries with trading partners.

Burke mentors dozens of people, including women at senior-manager level preparing for executive roles, because women remain underrepresented in senior quantitative finance, risk and analytics positions. Her other recognition includes the TD Corporate League of Excellence and the TD IMPACT program.
