Max Von Muehldorfer, BA’25, an Academic All-Canadian defensive lineman, was selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the 2025 CFL draft, which brought him back to his hometown. He helped the Mustangs win the 2021 Vanier Cup, and he called the draft pick “a childhood dream come true.”

Away from football he is among the most accomplished national weightlifters of his age group in Canadian history. He won gold at the 2023 Junior Pan Am Games, is a four-time junior national champion and holds the third-heaviest clean-and-jerk ever recorded in the country, at 430 pounds.

He studied criminology at Western, and the story, published through Western Alumni, credits donor-funded awards with easing financial pressure so he could focus on school and sport. He says he wants to give back to future Mustangs through mentorship, coaching and donations.
