Raafat Mansour elected to the Royal Society of Canada for radio-frequency engineering
The founding director of the Centre for Integrated RF Engineering co-founded two spinoff companies, including eye-tracking pioneer AdHawk Microsystems.
Dr. Raafat Mansour, a professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. The society cited his leadership in engineering for radio-frequency (RF), microwave and micro-electromechanical systems.
As founding director of the Centre for Integrated RF Engineering, he has helped make Waterloo a leader in RF and microsystems research, including work on high-performance communications and on cryogenic RF hardware for quantum computers.
More than 100 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows have trained under him, and he co-founded two spinoff companies, one of them AdHawk Microsystems, which pioneered eye-tracking technology. Mansour has 37 patents and more than 450 peer-reviewed publications to his name, and he is also a Fellow of the IEEE, the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Engineering Institute of Canada.
