Liam Smith finished third in the men’s 8 km race in 25:02 as the Mustangs men placed second, behind McMaster, at the 2026 Vigars & Salter Western Invitational at Thames Valley Golf Course. It was the 51st annual event and its 40th anniversary at the course. Robin Faricier and Tom Boers were seventh and ninth, and Satveer Gill and Kirk Hallman completed the scoring five. Western’s team score was 50.

On the women’s side, Brooke Power was the top Mustang at 31:09.3, followed by Sarah Luedke at 31:10.2. The women finished fifth with a team total of 121, in a season with many new names after key graduations.

The Mustangs were due to travel to South Bend, Indiana, on October 3 for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational.
