The youngest national commissioner

Kaelem Moniz is a 2026 U of T Alumni Association Scholar. At Trinity he chaired the College Meeting and sat on the Board of Trustees. Since November 2025 he has been national commissioner of Scouts Canada, the youngest person ever in the role, and he now begins law school at U of T.

Kaelem Moniz graduated from Trinity College in June with a double major in international relations and public policy. He has been named a 2026 University of Toronto Alumni Association Scholar, an award for graduating students with outstanding academic achievement and exceptional commitment to community leadership.

At Trinity he chaired the College Meeting, sat as a student member of the Board of Trustees and served as co-head of college. Since November 2025 he has been national commissioner of Scouts Canada, the youngest person to hold that volunteer position, and he created a podcast series, Profiles in Canada, with nearly 30 interviews.

He also works part-time as a research assistant at the Munk School’s Global Indigenous Rights and Policy Lab. Moniz now begins law school at U of T and hopes fellow graduates leave Trinity with a commitment to public service.

Reported from Trinity grad Kaelem Moniz named 2026 UTAA Scholar (U of T Alumni News, September 18, 2026).

Until the next issue

The class keeps arriving.

One hundred and thirteen stories end this issue, but the university doesn't pause between them. A new orientation week is already being planned; a lab somewhere on campus is already running the next experiment. Alumni Digest will be there in October for the next one.
